Ruth wins powerball drawing

Virginia woman claims $150,000 in Powerball drawing

The day was normal for Ruth Christiansen-Jones when she and her husband decided to check their Powerball lottery ticket. That’s when their day became anything but normal.

“Baby, I think we just won a large amount of money!” her husband said.

Ruth’s husband was right. The ticket they bought won $150,000 in the drawing held on 27 October. The lucky lady of North Chesterfield purchased her winning ticket at Quick Stop located at 8130 Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield.

The matched lottery winning numbers were 8-12-13-19-27 with the Powerball number 4. Her ticket matched four numbers out of the five winning numbers plus the Powerball number.

By spending an extra $1 for Power Play, the lucky player tripled her prize to $150,000 because of the 3x Power Play number.

The Virginia Lottery is game when it comes to education.  Ms. Christiansen-Jones lives in Chesterfield County which received more than $20.4 million in lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
